The Akron Aeros, much like this notebook (I hope), continued to find their stride over the past week, going 4-3. The Aeros lost their game last Tuesday against the Altoona Curve, but then headed home to open their season at Canal Park with 3 straight wins over the Trenton Thunder. They stumbled on Sunday to miss out on a 4-game sweep of the Thunder, but rebounded with a 6-3 win over the Bowie Baysox on Monday. The team is currently 7-3 and in 1st place in the Eastern League’s Western Division.
The Aeros continue to win games mostly on the shoulders of their pitching staff, which has only allowed 22 runs in 10 games. That sort of rate is unsustainable, however, so if the Aeros expect to continue winning, they’ll need the offense to start coming through. Players like Tim Fedroff, Jared Goedert, and Kyle Bellows have been pulling their weight on offense, but the Aeros will need more players to pick up some of the slack (Nick Weglarz, Chun Chen, and Roberto Perez would be a good place to start).
The Aeros will continue their homestand against the Bowie Baysox on Tuesday and Wednesday night before headed out to Reading to play the Phillies in a 3-game set Friday the 20th through Sunday the 22nd. After that, the Aeros will head to Bowie for a 3-game series Monday the 24th through Wednesday the 26th. Read More…
