Ravenna at Roosevelt Preview

The Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders host the Ravenna Ravens tonight in the 92nd edition of their rivalry.
It is extremely likely that the game will be close, as the Rough Riders (8-1, 6-0) and Ravens (6-3, 5-1) are at the top of the Portage Trail Conference Metro Division. This rivalry game always has passion, but even more is on the line tonight as the winner will top the conference.
Roosevelt won handily last week, beating the Norton Panthers on the road 27-7. Ravenna, on the other hand, lost their first PTC game of the year 19-7 while visiting the Streetsboro Rockets.
Ravens head coach Jim Lunardi admitted that his team was looking ahead to Roosevelt last week. “With having that rival game being last, sometimes you overlook the one that’s prior,” Lunardi said. “I believe that part of why we lost is the fact that they were looking ahead to Roosevelt and not concentrating on a tough opponent.
“You can’t do that. You get what you get when you do that.”
Now that they are completely focused, the Ravens will try their best to limit Roosevelt senior quarterback Tra’von Chapman. Chapman has thrown for 2384 yards and 30 touchdowns this season, making him one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the PTC. Read More…
