Shawn Morimando (SP, Carolina): L (4-6), 5.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 5 SO, 1 HBP
Morimando may have allowed three runs Thursday night, but with all of them unearned, this gives the left-hander four out of his last five starts without allowing an earned run. This was not one of the prettiest outings of this stretch, as Morimando only made it through five innings, but he still lowered his ERA to 2.73. Morimando’s FIP is pretty high (3.85), a byproduct of his 48:32 SO:BB in 69.1 innings, so there is room to grow if the left-hander wants to sustain his success. Still, if Morimando can build on his early season success, there is no reason that he cannot begin to fill the void of left-handed pitching in Cleveland’s organization. Read More…
