Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.
Note that Columbus’ game was suspended due to rain and Mahoning Valley was rained out. Akron was off due to the Eastern League All-Star game.
Alex Lavisky (C, Carolina): 3-for-6, 1 R, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 1 SO
Sometimes fate can just be cruel. Earlier in the season — as the upper levels of the organization experienced a catching crunch with Carlos Santana and Lou Marson being sidelined — Lavisky should have gotten a chance to establish himself at Double-A Akron. Lavisky got a chance, but only for about a week. A broken big toe put Lavisky on the disabled list for almost two months and allowed Jake Lowery to solidify himself at Akron. Now Lavisky is in Carolina where he struggled mightily before Wednesday (.167/.297/.200 in 10 games). It had been quite a while since Lavisky had really played, however, so there is the chance that this is just Lavisky putting things together.
