Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.

Chun-Hsiu Chen (1B, Columbus): 2-for-3, 1 R, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SO, 1 HBP
Triple-A has not treated Chen nearly as kindly as Double-A did, but that is just part of the lumps minor leaguers take. Following up a .328/.427/.547 line in 38 Akron games with a .239/.303/.365 one in 53 Columbus games is rough, as is the change in Chen’s strikeout and walk rates (41:23 SO:BB in Akron, 60:16 SO:BB in Columbus). Still, there is hope for Chen. That first adjustment to a new level can take some time and we do not have a large enough sample yet to say that the first baseman cannot handle Triple-A.
