Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.
Jesus Aguilar (1B, Akron): 2-for-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SO
According to Aeros manager Edwin Rodriguez, around the beginning of June, Aguilar made an adjustment to his swing that, in the manager’s view, gives Aguilar a much better major league swing. Adjustments are talked about all the time, but with results like these, it is much easier to take notice:
April-May: .248/.323/.374 line, .126 ISO, 45:23 SO:BB in 51 games
June-July: .284/.374/.455 line, .171 ISO, 42:25 SO:BB in 51 games
Since the adjustment, Aguilar is reaching base much more consistently, is showing more power, and has not seen his plate discipline stats suffer. Now that the trading deadline has passed, I would expect to see Aguilar in Columbus before too much longer. He is showing growth, plus with a promotion from Canal Park to Huntington Park, even more power (namely home runs) should be on the way. Read More…
