The WAR Room: The 2013 Columbus Clippers hitters (4.9.14)

To start off The WAR Room, we will be going back to 2013 and going over last year’s performances. Ideally this is something that would happen in the offseason, but since I was not able to compute these stats until now, they have to run now.

Plus, there have not been enough minor league games yet to make useful stats. So onward with the retrospective.

Even if we rate third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall as a poor defender, the third baseman tore it up in his 27 Columbus games in 2013, posting a 1.9 WAR. Sure, some of the value comes from a sky-high BABIP (.443, a 144 BABIP+), but Chisenhall actually had a slightly different approach that helped as well. Read More…
