Yandy Diaz (3B, Carolina): 1-for-3, 1 BB
Diaz extended his hitting streak to 10 games Wednesday night, but the third baseman’s strong performance this season goes past getting a hit in his last 10 outings. The 22-year-old has not hit for much power in his first taste of affiliate ball this season, but he has shown an advanced approach and an ability to get on base through 36 games. Diaz has drawn 23 walks (compared to just 21 strikeouts) this season and reached base at a .424 clip, a rate high enough to survive any impending regression on his .372 BABIP. The beauty of evaluating prospects in the Carolina League is the small nature of the league allows teams to play multiple times and adjust to players, something certainly coming for Diaz.
