Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Cleveland prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.
James Ramsey (CF, Columbus): 2-for-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 SO
Ramsey’s debut with the organization had not gone smoothly, but Thursday, the 24-year-old flipped the script, launching his first two extra base hits and looking the part of a priority prospect. Naturally, taking too much away from one good game is as irresponsible as making judgments on Ramsey’s rough first five games, but there is a balance to be found. Clearly Ramsey has work to do on making consistent contact (12 strikeouts in six games), but the center fielder has shown an ability to do something with the ball when he connects. Ramsey’s first exposure to Triple-A — which doubles as his time in the Cleveland organization — has not been a smooth transition, but luckily he will be judged on a lot more than six Triple-A games at the beginning of August 2014.
