Important Note About Links

With Indians Baseball Insider moving over to the Scout network, the old IBI links are currently not functional. They should be in time, but for now, the IBI archive is set up in its old Indians Prospect Insider URL.

So in order to view pieces in the “Read More…” links prior to 2015, you need to right click the link, copy the link address, and change the “IndiansBaseballInsider.com” portion of the link to “IndiansProspectInsider.com”

I am in the process of adapting the links on this archive for you, but in the meantime, that workaround will work. Thank you for your patience during this transition!

2015 IBI PREVIEW CAPSULE: RHP SHAWN ARMSTRONG (1.6.15)

Welcome to the 2015 IBI preview capsules! In order to prepare for the upcoming season, IBI will have a preview capsule running for every player on the 40-man roster and selected non-roster invites. To mix things up, we will be running these roughly in alphabetical order. Next up is right-handed reliever Shawn Armstrong.

Shawn Armstrong, RHP

Throws: Right — Bats: Right — Entering his age-24 season — Contract: Pre-arbitration player (under team control through 2020, on track for arbitration eligibility in 2018)

2014 Overview: Armstrong hit rock bottom in 2013 — struggling on the field and missing two and a half months with a self-inflicted hand injury — but the right-hander found redemption in 2014. The 24-year-old tore up the Eastern League over the past season, earning himself a late-season callup to Columbus and a spot on the 40-man roster. Though Cleveland is deep in right-handed relief depth, Armstrong pushed his way up the pecking order and is in position to see Cleveland at some point in 2015. Read More…
